Bach Viet Dance is a Melbourne-based cultural organisation founded in 2019 to preserve and promote traditional Vietnamese dance and the diverse cultural heritage of Vietnam’s ethnic communities.

Candy Bowers is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist born of South African political refugees at Dandenong Hospital in Victoria's South East. A poet, playwright and performer from an early age, Candy was accepted into the Bachelor of Dramatic Arts – Acting course at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in 2001. In the two decades following Candy has built her own production company, starred in sketch comedy, performed on Australia’s main-stages and toured the country with original works including: Sweet Mama, One The Bear, Sista She, Australian Booty and Hot Brown Honey Burlesque.

Her personal essays and poems are published in Growing Up African in Australia! (Black Inc Books), She's Having A Laugh (Affirm Press) and Goddess: Fierce Women on Film (ACMI/ Thames and Hudson).

Catch her on the small screen in Safe Home (SBS), Crazy Fun Park (ABC), Swift Street (SBS) and Fisk 2 (ABC/ Netflix). Her awards and accolades include: the Creators Fund (Creative VIC), Best Cabaret/ Variety Show TakeBack2021! Circus, Performing Arts

Curbside Carnies is a mobile circus project created during the heavy lockdowns in Victoria, as a way to provide contactless, Covid-safe circus experiences to the people of Melbourne and beyond. As soon as the lockdowns were lifted, Curbside Carnies were pushing their small portable stage onto the streets, giving free pop-up entertainment from Mount Alexander to Brimbank – funded entirely by grants from councils in and around Melbourne. Curbside Carnies now provides regular circus entertainment and curated programs around Australia – from Darwin to Melbourne – and continues to work with community organisations and councils in using circus arts to improve mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.

Djirri Djirri dancers are a renowned woman only Wurundjeri dance group, with traditional custodianship from Melbourne and surrounding areas.

Bound by the spirit of Djirri Djirri,(Willy Wag Tail in Wurundjeri Language - spirit messenger and giver of dance), they share a repertoire of ancient creation stories that honor Ancestors (Liwik), Family, Country (Biik) and spirit totems passed down by Elders - ensuring the ongoing connection to Culture and Country.

Make a masterpiece at Paint in the Dark: Discovery and Camouflage in Nature. Nature is full of fascinating examples of camouflage and visibility. Some animals blend into their surroundings, while others use bright colours to stand out and communicate.

In this Paint in the Dark experience, participants will create fluorescent artworks inspired by animals that hide or shine in their natural habitats. Using colour, pattern and light, children and families will explore how animals adapt to their environments while expressing their own creativity. Combining nature, science and art, this engaging workshop invites the community to discover, imagine and create together.

Jen Tran is an award winning multidisciplined artist, designer, community arts facilitator and performer. Her practice explores the complexity of identity, family and places. She uses art, culture, stories, performance and diverse creative methodologies to tell and elicit intergenerational stories, fostering reconciliation and meaningful community connection.

She is the recipient of the prestigious Vietnamese Community of Australia - Victorian Chapter Arts Award, for her contribution to Asian- Australian arts. She has participated in major Public Art Projects for AsiaTopa and Melbourne Fringe Festivals, and her original performance work, INK, premiered as part of La Mama Theatre's Explorations program.

Sally Walshe, also known as Lady Mohawk, is a multidisciplinary artist, community arts producer and events curator based in Melbourne. Her practice spans visual art, wearable art, creative workshops and participatory arts events, with a focus on bold, inclusive and environmentally sustainable creative experiences. As a community arts producer, Lady Mohawk designs and deliver vibrant, participatory art experiences that activate public spaces and engage people of all ages. From large-scale public art projects and festivals to youth-focused exhibitions and council activations, she works with local governments, schools, and organisations to create meaningful moments of creativity, collaboration and community pride. Recent projects include Penrose RePurposed (Wyndham Council, 2025), RePurpose YOUR Future (Sustainable Living Festival, 2024), Tree of Your Future (Green West Fest, 2024), and the popular Show Your WEST-SIDE Art Prize and Exhibition (2023–2024), which attracted hundreds of artists and attendees across Melbourne’s west.

Sheena Chundee is a Melbourne-based choreographer, dancer, and interdisciplinary artist exploring identity, embodiment, and the tension between tradition and transformation. Classically trained at The Royal Ballet School, she performed internationally with The Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, and Northern Ballet Theatre, and toured Europe in contemporary works with Mavin Khoo.

After choreographing for European dance companies and building her arts organisation, Rebel Stepz Arts, Sheena returned to the stage in 2023 with TOUCH, a Victoria-touring production praised for its emotional impact. In 2025, she presented an excerpt of her solo work Fractured Echoes at Out of Bounds (Lucy Guerin Inc and Dancehouse), merging classical precision with contemporary experimentation.

Musician, Artist

​Ania Reynolds combines fat beats with fatter synths and baritone saxophone and percussion with one thing in mind - to make you dance!

Her original sound features Samba, Dub/Reggae, Cumbia, Ethio-Jazz and Afrobeat influences, and has been variously described as Wonkadelic, Techno Jazz, Steampunk Swing and Cosmic Groove.

Ania is an award-winning artist and composer who has performed her original music across 5 continents, been the Musical Director of Circus Oz and Yothu Yindi and the Treaty Project, and shared a saxophone solo duet with Femi Kuti.

She has collaborated with musicians around the world, from Brazil to Cuba, Vietnam to France, and most recently Japan. She was a finalist in the 2022 Buskers’ World Games in Gwangju, South Korea.

A proud Westie, she plays regularly in the Western suburbs of Melbourne and is passionate about performances that are free, inclusive and for everyone!

A geometric tangle of branching arches, Cortex (pictured) is a large-scale immersive inflatable installation inspired by the root system of red mangroves. Created to balance high-impact site presence with up-close exploration, borrow a torch from the facilitators and discover the unseen world around you.

Neon Wearable Art Workshop
Make your own wearable art masterpiece using neon recycled materials. Choose one of our templates to trace and cut a headdress, arm band, or chest plate, take thread and necklace or bracelet, or let your imagination go and make something unique. This workshop uses recycled, repurposed or reclaimed decorative materials that glow under UV light.

One of our favourite backyard buddies, the Teddy Bear Bees are tactile puppets covered in hand dyed and crafted fluffy ruffles. Glowing eyes and gently pulsing wing lights highlight the warm waves of luminous colour inside each puppet. Listen closely and you might hear them buzzing.

First Peoples Educator and Mentor

Uncle Shane Charles is a Yorta Yorta man with strong connections to the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung communities and his family have connections to Cummeragunja and Mooroopna. He is a proud father and a grandfather, and for many years he has taught about the importance of passing cultural knowledge and stories down to the next generation. Uncle Shane is passionate about how Aboriginal culture can build connections between people. He is mentor and teacher whose long career across education, government and community services has taken his work around Australia and worldwide. He has worked on trust-building programs and cultural exchanges with First Nations leaders.

Join respected Yorta Yorta, Wurundjeri, Wemba Wemba and Boon Wurrung Elder, Uncle Shane Charles, as he shares ancient cultural practices and knowledge of caring for Country that have sustained the Brimbank region for over 60,000 years.

Alongside deadly conversations, take part in a communal nest-making project Bunjil's Nest using gathered cuttings as an offering to Bunjil - the Wedge-tailed Eagle and Creator Spirit of the local Wurundjeri People - for guidance and protection.

Enjoy yarning circles, damper-making demonstrations with Cultural Kitchens, and a range of culturally appropriate craft activities for children.

Where the Snails Go is a new theatre company co-led by Lauren Swain and Sophia Derkenne, that centres wonder, play and connection, with an attention to slow time and the natural world. As Bowery Theatre Residency Artists, they are developing a new theatre work for children and families and they would love you to join them for an interactive nature-based workshop to learn about worms, make art with soil and plant seeds to take home.
