Bowery residency artists, Jennie Swain and Nela Trifkovic, are inviting you to join us in our musical exploration of belonging.
Learning new songs and songs from the Sevdah and Sephardic traditions as inspiration, participants will discuss their responses to the following questions in order to develop material for the final showing, as well as making connections by sharing meaningful stories alongside the Brimbank Multicultural Community Choir.
Belonging - When and where have you felt a sense of Belonging?
What do your songs or sounds of belonging and/or connection sound like?
Be - What does it mean to be yourself? Is it safe for you to be who you are?
If you do not feel safe to be you, what are your fears?
Longing- What do you long for? Is it safe to feel or act on that ‘longing’?
If you can relate to the metaphor of being In Between Mountains, what are your mountains?
