We had a chat with artist Callum Watson to talk about his most recent exhibition 'Abstract Archetypes', inspiration and what to expect from the exhibition.

Describe yourself in one sentence: Complicated

What is your chosen medium(s) and why?
Mixed media but if I were to choose at the moment probably markers, coloured pencils and acrylic paint. I like things that are immediate and fast to use.

What/who inspires you?
Other artists, strong people, wise people, rivers, forests, and space.

Tell us the back story of your Exhibition?
For me, This exhibition is about the daily struggles of having an illness and persevering through it. It is about the fantasy the mind creates, which causes suffering as well as inspires art and life. This exhibition is an insight into marginalised experiences and the unique insights this can create.

What do you want people to take away from your Exhibition
? An emotional reaction, despair, happiness, grief, love, loss and repair.

Who are your favourite artists?
My favourite artists are Brice Marsden, Terry Winters, Joan Mitchell, Ian Fairweather, Mark Rothko, Emil Nolde to name a few.

Where do you see yourself doing in 10 years?
I see myself hopefully making art still!
