There’s no place like Brimbank! Be Bold Festival celebrates the arts in Melbourne’s west

Our community is one of the most culturally diverse in Australia and Be Bold Festival celebrates the arts in Melbourne’s western suburbs.

On Saturday 9 November the Bowery Theatre, St Albans Community Centre, Errington Oval Reserve and surrounding areas will come alive in celebration of our diverse multicultural community with special family-friendly events by and for our community.

We are grateful to have Uncle Shane Charles for the Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, plus a very special Djirri Djirri Dancers.

There’ll be cultural performances by Kala Dyuthi Academy of Indian Classical Dance, Jana Garjana Dhol Pathak, Kiganda Dance Group, Maidens of Polynesia and more!

Over at the Bowery Theatre we have a special Resonate Youth Music Showcase bringing you a line-up of young and local emerging musicians, plus a performance with crowd favourites L2R Dance showing us the best in hip-hop / pop dance.

Travel around the world with fashion parades by Discover Cameroon, our local Indian community and local artist Aunty Jeanie Mason with Always Was Always Will Be Bakandji Fashion. Enjoy cooking demos that champion food from all over the globe in our Cultural Kitchen. We welcome local chefs to the stage to cook multicultural dishes they love. Speaking of food, we have a range of delicious Food Trucks on site to fill hungry bellies, plus a special St Albans Food Tour where food lovers will discover local hidden gems.

Keep the whole family entertained all day with creative workshops and activities. Flex your creative muscle with the Paint in the Dark sessions, make lots of noise in Junklandia’s Musical Garden, experiment with The Scientwits, see the biggest bubbles with Dr Hubble Bubble, have a go at circus with Balls Up Circus, meet the mischievous The Fops by Born in a Taxi, find something special at the Arts Market, and interact with The Birds by Boilover Inclusive Ensemble and Giant Puppets of the West by Snuff Puppets.

Don’t forget to check out Emma Winkler’s exhibition Shadow Puppets in the Bowery Gallery, with it’s official launch happening at Be Bold Festival.

End the day dancing with friends to the tunes of DJ Trancempire.

With a diverse range of performances and activities, there’s something for everyone at Be Bold Festival. See you there!
