We're excited to present electro-acoustic outfit Përolas as part of as part of the Resonate - Bowery Online Stage Series. You’ll experience the unique combination of Liana Perillo (harp and vocals), Fabian Aravalès (guitars, trumpet and synthesiser), accompanied by Louis Spencely (live and electronic drums). Immerse your senses into a contemporary music space. Përolas marries traditional instruments and electronica bringing you a unique soundscape. We caught up with the band to chat about music, collabs and more!

Describe your music in one sentence:

An eclectic combination of instruments, sonic nuances, and uplifting energy.

What role does your cultural background play in your craft?

Our 3 band members come from different ethnic backgrounds; comprising Australian, European, and South American. These influences enable us to include these rhythms, languages, qualities, and textures in our music; broadening our musical perspectives.

If you could collab with another artist / singer / producer, who would it be and why?

Uhuh, tricky question.... we have been really inspired lately by the use of harp in some of Bjork's album. Working with such an eclectic and transcendental artist would be one of our dreams... hopefully, one day we get to meet her.

Five artists you’re listening to right now:

Florence and the Machine

Bjork

Rosalia

Christian Scott

Gilberto Gil

What’s on the cards for Përolas for the rest of the year?

We are working on writing and recording our first full album, and performing more! We have released all of our music as singles up until now and had a break from performing during Covid-19. We aim to step further into our creative essence and voice by conveying a unifying message through an album, with the aim for it to be released this year!

Resonate - Bowery Online Stage Series feat. Përolas performance video premieres on Sunday 21 December, 3pm on Creative Brimbank's Facebook Page or YouTube Channel.
