Contempora, meaning ‘with time’ in Latin, references the relationship between life and the flow and cycle of time. The artwork of young artist Lizzie Hall explores what she regards as this most mysterious and dominant of elements that underpin our existence on this planet. In exploring this idea she presents three bodies of work that all allude to this notion in one form or another. Her still life series of fruit and their subsequent decay portray the richness and fleeting nature of life. While her second series exploring this theme are large portrait paintings that consider the ever-changing human experience. Finally the third series of in portraits are intimate depictions of people at differing stages of their lives.
This work is presented as part of Victorian Youth Week activities.
