Presented by Outer Urban Projects as part of Refugee Week
The Audition offers a sharp and insightful perspective into the protocols and powers that permit or veto entry into our country and onto our stages.
Asylum seekers share something in common with Australian actors — they are both outsiders with an uncertain status. Just like actors they become expert at waiting whilst remaining forever hopeful.
The Audition is inspired by two commanding young Iranian artists Milad Norouzi and Sahra Davoudi who were also asylum seekers while developing and creating the work.
“an exhilarating glimpse of worlds and realities too often kept out of our plush temples of culture. … hits you right in the sternum.” -Alison Croggon, ABC ARTS
Performance is followed by a 20-30min Q&A.
Ticket includes beautiful foods served pre show by our local refugee communities of Brimbank.
