We're excited have artist Sherry Liu exhibiting and hosting a workshop for the Top-Up: Diversity Arts Professional Development Exhibition & Workshop Series by Curatorial Collective. Sherry gives us some insight into her practice and art:
1. Describe yourself in one sentence
A socially engaged artist who loves daily nature experiences
2. What is your chosen medium(s) and why?
I try to employ socially engaged art to reconnect with the community and explore affective and environmental engagement. I seek the interaction between people and people, people and the environment and invite a renewal experience related to daily life from physical to psychological, personal perspective to public perspective.
3. What/who inspires you?
My love for nature, the desire to perceive life and form connections with people, and commitment to a collaborative approach and environmental participation drive my social art practices.
4. What do you want people to take away from your work?
I want people to simply enjoy our connections with community and environment, experiencing reciprocity as well as empathy existing among people.
