Be Bold Festival Full Program - Celebrating Brimbank’s diverse multicultural community with arts, culture and creativity

CROWDS 06

Hello, Wominjeka, Xin chào, Mabuhay, مرحبًا, ਸਤ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ, however you say hello – you are warmly invited to join us to celebrate arts and culture in Melbourne’s west.

On Saturday 7 October the Bowery Theatre, St Albans Community Centre, Errington Oval Reserve and surrounding areas will come alive in celebration of our diverse multicultural community with special family-friendly events by and for our community.

There’ll be music from our very own Brimbank Multicultural Community Choir celebrating 20 years with a special performance, the Mexican sounds of the Sin Frontera Band, dance to the beat with Burundian Drumming Group and enjoy a modern take on classical instruments with 2Fiddle. Strings. Plus we have a special Resonate Youth Music Showcase bringing you a line-up of young and local emerging musicians.

Celebrate cultures with traditional dances Tinikling (The Philippines) and Kud Dukat (Bosnia), as well as a very special theatre installation Obang (Korea) in the Bowery Theatre for babies and their families.

Enjoy cooking demos that champion food from all over the world in our Cultural Kitchen. We are excited to have renowned chef Shane Delia (Maha) cooking up Middle Eastern favourites, plus local cooks bringing you Malaysian, Cameroonian, Vietnamese and Indian dishes. Speaking of food, we have a range of Food Trucks available and food tours showcasing the tastes of St Albans.

Don’t miss the incredible large scale interactive art installation The Giant Lạc Long Quân on the oval celebrating Vietnamese culture, as well as exhibitions in the Bowery Gallery by artists Callum Watson, Liam San Jose and Lee Agius.

Keep the whole family entertained all day with creative workshops and activities. Flex your creative muscle with our Paint in the Dark drop-in sessions, try Boomerang throwing with Uncle Ian Hunter, have a go at the Kooky Karnival games and fun, meet the mischievous Seagulls by Snuff Puppets, find something special at the Arts and Craft Market and dance to the beat with hip-hop / pop dance routines by L2R Dance.

With a diverse range of performances and activities, there’s something for everyone at Be Bold Festival. See you there!
